Winning Second, great end to the Season!

Thanks to Shirley, Cannon's Grandmother, we have this great shot. Coby had a great end to a challenging season. With a great new rig, and super power engine, he ended his season taking second. He is getting the hang of his new drag.

Family Vacation Part 1 Vegas

On our way to California we stopped in Sin City.
We stayed at the Monte Carlo. We had a delicious meal at Bouchon (In the Venetian), the restaurant where my friend Rory is a chef. The staff treated us like royalty; they brought us the entire dessert menu and we tried escargot. My children will never forget this meal- especially Cobs who had the best raspberry doughnut of his life . Cas met Elvis and Cobs soaked up the great shopping.

Good Son

I try everyday to tell my son he is a good son.

Today- Cobs and I watched the movie The Express, about Ernie the express running back of Syracuse NY. Great show. Towards the end of the movie, when Ernie is plays in the Cotton Bowl vs Texas, I was rocking back in forth, I looked at Cobs, he was doing the same. I thought to myself, "my son is such a good person" Cobs continued to cheer Ernie on. I have oceans of love for my son.

Cobs was hand picked to be a peer tutor (1 of 8 students) to students with special needs. When I went to back to school night a few of the teachers addressed me with mounds of respect, "you're his mom?" they asked. Motioning to me that I should be so proud. So far so good, he has only hit one girl with a baseball- this coming up with our new family joke of, "you're out, you're out."

It's fun to find out something about your kids that you didn't know. Like Cobs choosing to do a project on Spina Bifida, a subject close to our family. It was not the most involved project, but it shows me he pays attention to people.
I love the way he plays Lego's with his sister because she becomes frustrated. I love the way he is the only one in the family to walk slow with my mom. I forget she is sick, I look back and he is holding her hand. I love that he jumps in the car and asks to go to the skate park in another city- to challenge himself. I love that he is a super fast runner, one of the best on his soccer team. He is many things I am not, like a runner, or charismatic.

The other day he called from school asking me to bring his skateboard and shoes to school, because he had forgotten them, this as you know is his transportation home from school- why bother with the bus? Late for work and frustrated I took off to the Jr. High, I glanced down at his shoes and just smiled.

I am a lucky.
