Having more than we lost

I had dinner with a friend last night who I have been friends with all my life. I have only seen her once in the last year and a half. In February she lost a baby at about 35.5 weeks, her son was born, to her seemingly perfect. For months I tried to contact her, visit her and help her. I was never able to get in touch with her during her trying time. A very private person with a very private matter. Yesterday when she called and invited me to dinner, I was trilled that I could make it. We met with our other friend Leah and had ourselves a little reunion. Ku was able to tell her story of her 4th child, a son, Michael. I was so thankful to her for sharing her story. It may of taken her a while to gain the courage to share it, but I was so glad she did. Ku said so many wonderful things- but the best was when she said, "I have more than I lost, and I am trying to focus on that."
Today Cassidy had a C-Scan for a neck mass she has had since birth. It is growing and the doctors wanted us to have it looked at. So far- she has had an ultrasound and now, today the scan. The ultrasound came up with a sore or lesion. It is in such a odd place that our doctor thought the C- scan may be better than the ultrasound. Right now we are home- eating our breakfast and letting our stomachs settle. Cass had to have an I-V which I wasn't expecting, that was the worst and scariest part for us both- since I had told her she didn't need to have a shot.
Last Night Cass lost her front tooth- she is talking with a lisp today, getting used to her tooth being gone. The tooth fairy visited and left $3.

Upgrading

Coby sitting in the drag for the first time- I can't believe he has outgrown his other one.

Parachute

The quality of these photos is not the best- but here are some pictures of Coby's new drag. This one will go faster than 85 and is considered a Major Class. I love the last photo here,it looks like the bike that Batman drives in The Dark Knight.
This will be something that Coby will work on this winter along with Marty. Cob will race this car next year.
I have some footage of Coby actually racing(winning)- if I can figure out how to get it onto my blog- HELP!
Coby just told me I should have named this entry- BAD ASS ENGINE

My troop

It has been awhile since we had this done, and I doubt we will do it again. Family pictures are stressful, but these turned out so great- I love them. My mom is happy with them- and that is what counts.

This one is for all of you out there missing Coby- me too. Have you tried to get a tweenager to sit still long enough to write about them? I promise there is more to come on Coby and his spectacular racing season.

Random Tag

So here are the random facts you all wanted.

#1 I dislike the color red. I always admire others possessions- clothing, cars, paint etc... but I can never bring myself to buy red things. Wait I take that back- after taking inventory of my closet I found one thing- my ski parka- which I love, other than the color. It was a sweet deal with fab features but every time I wear it I think, "why isn't this black?" We just had family pictures taken and I wore a red shirt, which I borrowed from my friend Sharon. I quickly gave it back. My mother wanted me in red- she thinks I look good in it- guess we will see.

#2 I dislike Cherries. (They are Red). Cherry Jello, Coke, Candy, Pie... you get the picture. Nothing ruins a buffet quicker then having cheesecake and the only topping is cherry.

#3 I once received a concussion at my daughter's soccer game. The game was over and we were walking across the field to our cars, when all of a sudden WHAM! I took a ball to the head kicked by an adult male that had missed a goal- so it was hauling. I remember stumbling and wobbling for about 20 feet in high heels before my husband caught me as I went down. On the way home in the car I had to pull over and throw up, that continued once we were home. The next day I went to the doctor and had scans and x rays, confirming I had a moderate concussion. I know you are all laughing, I am too. My sister in law called me with the news that she had gotten a new job and she was so excited, I talked to her 3 days later and asked her if she had gotten the job, she was puzzled, I couldn't remember talking to her.

#4 I am a music buff. In some other life I know I was a rock star- or just a roadie- living the life. My dream job would be a music critic or historian. N rolls his eyes when I tivo everything historic on VH1 so I can stay with the music scene. Just yesterday I was glued to the top 100 hip hop songs of all time. I am a life time subscriber to Rolling Stone. I wanted to join the reality show, that they had where you could work for Rolling Stone but I was to old( HA!). I love it when people call me and ask, " who is the guy, ya know in that one band, that sings that song, da da do do , ya know?" makes my day.

#5 Kind of along the line of #4 I like sports facts. I love to watch all sports. I could hang at any sports bar and carry on with any guy if I needed to. N will admit I know more about sports than he does- is any one else happy that Joe Torre has the LA Dodgers on their way to a world series? Or curious why the New England patriots without their QB are having a hard time defensively? HU?

#6 I am every one's crazy liberal friend. Everyone needs one in their life. Early on in my working career it dawned on me that I had different views and opinions from most of the people I was surrounded by. Eventually people see my inner beauty(ha ha). I once had a co- worker(not from Utah) ask me what I was doing here- that I didn't belong because I was pro- choice and a friend to gay people. I just said, "look at those mountains pal, that's why I'm in Utah and from November to April I ski like the wind"(or I try to- I'm really just an intermediate skier). I love Utah, I am proud to be a native- I fit in just fine.

#7- I actually only had 6 but came up with one just now. I just got home from the dentist and I am waiting for my 1/2 hour to be up so I can eat. I LOVE GOING TO THE DENTIST. I know it is a little weird, but I do- I go every 6 months to the day and I love it. FREAK!

I guess I tag those who would like to do this one- it is hard.

Barney's at the Berry

Uncle Norm's boat- and Marty....smiling? Uncle Norm had 13 or so life jackets enough for all the little ones- once the boat started!

Nate giving Canny a bear hug- fastening her life jacket

My niece Cannon and my other "niece" Annalynn- with Cass

My precious Mother- this was my first overnight camping experience with my mom.

Cute photo of the kids- Cousin CoCo from Nephi- did you notice they are sitting on Randon and Chelsee's back seat they ripped out of their explorer?Who needs camping chairs? Good times.

I love free for alls - THIS WAS FUN. Labor Day '08. My mom's oldest brother Bud invited us up to Strawberry reservoir. It was a little cold at night and my lovely RLS acted up- but that is my only complaint. My uncle Bud has a great family, it is as real as it gets with these folks- faults and all . This was some real camping. The tweens caught huge fish that we ate with our supper( yes I just said supper)- no fashion show at this camp out- no time, we have wood to chop.- and hell if you run out of plates and utensils just use someone elses when they are done. It has been a long time since I have laughed and carried on by a camp fire ate, in the dark and worried about a tent blowing over- can you all hear Steve Miller band and Willie Nelson? Genny brought some wonderful tunes. Bud is 19 years older than my mom; it was fun for them to be together. Sometimes... things just work out.

The Big Ride

before the ride

2 seconds into the ride- rain comes down in a sheet so we ditch our bikes on the lawn

Waiting the storm out- determined not to let a little rain stop us

One obsticle we passed the railroad tracks

Big Scary underpass- Cass was brave and kept on trucking

Grandma Gail's- I am so proud of you for reaching your goal!
Cass trained for this 3.5 mile ride for a few weeks- we took rides to the family farm by our house to buy corn, trips around the block and a few to her school. Her big day was on her birthday- we started early but it started to rain hard, so we delayed it a bit. The ride was great and Cass was brave- she started to lose steam at the end of our street but she hung on and made it home.
